Scalability
Never ending scalability in performance and storage capacity
Basically, the scalability of IASO IP Backup is endless, both in performance and in storage capacity. Adding capacity can be achieved gradually, just step by step and at attractive costs. This can be achieved by applying the following two principles:
Client side data reduction
The True DeltaTM data reduction, which is the heart of the IASO IP Backup solution, has been implemented completely at the client side. All intelligence and data processing takes places in the source where the primary data is found. There is no performance bottleneck, as there is no central process limiting growth, or only making it possible at high costs.
This means that a growing number of clients will never lead to performance issues, as basically each new client adds processing capacity as well.
Industry standard storage back end
For the central storage of data IASO IP Backup works with standard storage appliances of all well-known hardware suppliers. As long as the storage device supports FTP over SSL or HTTP/WebDav, the IASO solution is compliant. The combination of a single Windows or Linux FTP server with DAS or NAS storage is more than sufficient for installations up to tens of Terabytes. For large-scale implementations, a load-balanced FTP-cluster with storage can be scaled to many Petabytes. There are no high demands regarding the speed of the disks, so relatively cheap SATA disk are sufficient for the job.
