ATLANTA, Georgia, January 31, 2012 – BluPointe, a leader in Cloud data protection, has been named the North American distributor for IASO Backup Technology headquartered in Emmeloord, the Netherlands.

IASO Backup Technology offers award-winning backup and restore software that provides a safe, reliable and cost-effective alternative to tape backup. Featuring deep de-duplication, common file elimination, delta block backup and delta block restore remote installation, the functionality of IASO software allows easy remote installation and remote management through the client’s management console.

“We’re happy to have a trusted professional partner like BluPointe introducing IASO in the U.S.,” said Rene Oldenbeuving, CEO of IASO. “We believe BluPointe will achieve a real breakthrough with our technology, we couldn’t ask for a better representative in the U.S. market.”

BluPointe CEO Ron Roberts says IASO’s technology and growth, combined with its unique all inclusive pricing, are impressive. For MSP’s, backup service providers, and resellers he sees it as a complete package combination that must be experienced.

“Everything is included, there are no hidden costs, and you have the ability to backup and restore an impressive list of applications including VMWare per files at the ESX or VCenter server, and restore down to the file level – and that’s just to name only one.” Roberts said. “It is innovative software with rich functions and features that bring all the best in online backup technologies into one outstanding package.”

IASO Backup Technology provides archiving capabilities to keep specific backups (even those behind retention points) actual. It’s common files elimination feature dramatically decreases or eliminates storage waste, and a two-tier backup provides the ability to continue backing up data even when the network is not available.

Additional notable features include:

· MS Azure, SharePoint, Exchange 2007 /2010, MS SQL, Oracle protocol support.

· True Delta backup and true Delta restore.

· Central management that is active and behaves like a NOC (Network Operational Center).

· True two-tier backup continues even if network is not available.

· Deep De-duplication, at four levels.

· Common Files Reduction— this new feature allows a dramatic decrease in storage waste.

“Becoming IASO’s North American distributor is a perfect fit for BluPointe,” Roberts said. “We believe the products provide the functionality our clients demand, and then some.

“IASO has created a product so complete, I expect nothing but outstanding results for our clients.”

ATLANTA, Georgia, January 10, 2012 – BluPointe, a leader in Cloud data protection, announced the launch of its new TrueBMR™ program with first-of-its-kind capability to perform a delta block on a bootable image. This enhanced version of the BluPointe TrueBMR™ Secure Cloud backup solution is specifically designed to provide a range of new benefits to managed service providers (MSPs) and organizations looking to protect their critical business application data using Cloud technology.

BluPointe’s Cloud-based technology allows resellers, service providers, and backup service providers to create a local bootable image of their customers’ critical server; if that server fails for any reason, the customer can restore all data to an alternate computer (similar or dissimilar) using the same server or a virtual server, and be operational within a few minutes.

This newest innovation in the BluPointe Backup software provides for images to be moved offsite every day (only the changes at block lever are moved each day); when disaster strikes, the client has a full bootable image that can be restored either by Internet, disk or encrypted USB device in a few minutes at the customer’s location, disaster recovery location, a service provider’s location or the corporate office.

BluPointe’s TrueBMR™ backup solution offers advanced security and data integrity, encrypted during transit (in flight and at rest), as well as in the user’s data center. BluPointe’s backup software is designed to provide zero data loss, fast restore (file or image), instant access from anywhere, full reporting and silent operation, with easy installation and exceptional security.

BluPointe’s new software supports virtual environments like Hyper-V, VMware and XenServer and applications like SQL, Exchange (including 2010), Open File Backup, Oracle and SharePoint, and using the latest in vertical DeDupeTechnology™ to transmit and store only a fraction of what other image backup solutions transmit and store.

BluPointe frees users from the need to re-master or re-backup their full data, ever.

“There is nothing else like this available in Cloud technology” said BluePointe CEO Ron Roberts. “Full file level backup, plus image backup and restore in one package.

“Now businesses, their MSP’s, service providers, resellers, and backup service providers no longer need to integrate two products from two different companies to protect files and images.”

Roberts said no other backup company has accomplished this technical breakthrough, moving only the delta blocks of changed bootable images to a secure backup location, while being able to restore P2P, P2V, V2V or V2P and back in a few minutes.

BluPointe’s newest product works in conjunction with BluPointe’s remote backup product and is exclusive to BluPointe resellers, service providers and backup partners. Priced competitively at $349 MSRP per server (or only $15.00 per month per server), this long-awaited program is more efficient and cost-saving than anything before it.

“This does what the $1,000 programs do to protect your servers and recover from a disaster,” Roberts said. “They do it locally, while BluPointe performs local image backup and recovery from USB, NAS, BDR device or a physical server (using similar or dissimilar hardware), and/or remotely in minutes, for a fraction of the price.”

About BluPointe

BluPointe is complete network?based data protection software for the Cloud and remote office/branch office (ROBO) marketplace. BluPointe data protection provides companies and their customers with a complete data protection solution, coupling advanced features like easy installation, powerful administration, and scalability.
Like clockwork, there are a few things we can all set our watches to this time of year: Halloween fades rapidly into the holiday “season” (trees are up and carols are playing in the mall before the trick-or-treat candy is finished), and Gartner is on hand to tell us what to look forward to in 2012.

At this year’s Symposium/ITxpo, Gartner analysts named cloud computing as one of the top 10 strategic technologies for 2012. This marks the fourth straight year that cloud computing has been named to Gartner’s list, describing cloud computing as “a disruptive force,” with “the potential for broad, long-term impact in most industries.”

One of the most satisfying recognitions made, in our humble opinion, is that enterprises are finally beginning to move past understanding the cloud to making decisions on its implementation.

The hybrid cloud is a cloud computing implementation model that provides for porting applications, virtual machines and workloads between private and public clouds as deemed necessary. Since hybrid cloud “brings together external public cloud services and internal private cloud services, as well as the capabilities to secure, manage and govern the entire cloud spectrum,” Gartner says it will be a “major focus for 2012.”

Hybrid cloud making is already making up approximately 20 percent of all current enterprise cloud deployments, according to a recent Market Pulse survey.

At BluPointe, we’re experiencing our customers’ increasing business agility by leveraging hybrid cloud computing. More and more companies are moving back-office IT stack (comprising multiple servers) into the cloud, reducing costs and operational complexity, freeing up management to focus on core business competencies rather than maintaining its own IT environment.

Hybrid cloud computing success stories are already beginning to stack up as BluPointe continues to explore the SaaS market, and in the process release customers from deploying or managing software in their own data centers.

2012 should be the most exciting year yet in cloud computing, and some of us are already celebrating.

Data disaster recovery plans (DRPs) have always been controversial, at least when it comes down to the cost; upfront capital and resources must go into the system, and it’s never easy to convince a skeptical or hesitant manager to invest in a plan that may or may not ever have a return on investment, particularly when management factors more traditional solutions like insurance, or conventional data backup and storage methods.

The best thing to do is arm yourself with the facts about why DRP in the cloud makes everyone’s life easier in the long run. Let’s face it, sooner or later you’re going to need to place your disaster recovery in the cloud. There’s no reason to wait until you’ve experienced disaster, cloud DRPs don’t have to be so intimidating.

First things first: placing a site-replica in the cloud guarantees you will always have a backup and recovery system, and nothing less should be in place when it comes to protecting your critical information and assets, and having them available immediately when you need them. A good thing to factor into your decision is that with a cloud DRP, you only pay when you need your off-site resources. The best part is that your resources will always be available to you, whenever and wherever you need them.

Most cloud infrastructures utilize the “pay-per-use” cost model, which helps most small to medium businesses get their DRP up running in a scalable and controlled way, with very little capital expenditure.

Serious cloud DRP solutions offer real-time replication of data, as well as access to hot-swapping of damaged assets with ‘unlimited’ scalability, with no up-front provisioning requirements.

Cloud solutions invest in their own DRP, so the incentive is built in when it comes to making sure they can offer customers 24/7 availability of resources. Storing your hosted assets at a separate, offsite data-center translates to fewer worries on administrative issues, such as finding a suitable location to store backups, paying ground rent, the cost in human resources, purchasing assets, and a myriad of other details that help form a traditional or conventional non-cloud DRP.

Your Cloud DRP services are not where you can see them and audit them, which may seem unnerving since you can’t always know at a glance that the service being provided is problem-free.

It’s good practice to take a close examination of your cloud service provider, including the infrastructure security, resilience, and recovery. The cloud provider’s accreditation and business practices are good sign of how much a company has invested in its infrastructure and design security. Test a potential cloud provider on a ‘try-before-you-buy’ program, which allows you to get a feel for what they have to offer. This will give you something tangible to take to management when you present the demo to them yourself.

Disaster recovery within the cloud offers benefits for businesses and organizations of all sizes. Despite the potential challenges that may be making you wary, like any other important decision, due diligence and careful planning are all you need to arm your company with seriously valuable resilience and recovery benefits.

Once a business or organization has made the decision to move its key business processes and IT infrastructure to the cloud, they often do so with concerns about the potential risks involved.

A move to the cloud transfers serious control of a client’s privacy, availability, security, data retention and protection to the cloud service provider. Once this control is transferred, a business or organization has very little (if any) visibility of the business processes adopted by the cloud provider. So how does a business avoid feeling vulnerable when its reputation and operations could be at risk?

Transparency.

A reputable cloud provider will furnish the business or organization with critical information on the control environment through easily accessible documentation. Such information may include:

Disaster recovery plans.

Security policies.

Procedural details, including access rights and delegation.

Data center layout.

Architectural details related to physical security within the infrastructure.

The more your business or organizations knows about your cloud provider, the better equipped to minimize concern and gain trust.

The cloud provider should allow periodic visits or spot-checks to the data center, which will provide businesses the opportunity to actually see those parts of their organization that are otherwise hidden. Visits provide an opportunity to get to know the key people involved with the service provider, contacts with whom you’ll be able to get directly in touch if ever concerns arise concerning the hosted services. Knowing who to contact, and having a rapport with them saves valuable time when incidents occur.

These elements of transparency are just a few things your cloud provider can do to offer higher visibility, and develop a long lasting and trusted relationship between the client and the service provider within the cloud environment.

In fact, it has been for some time now, and there will be no turning back. The latest.information on backup and disaster recovery technology seems focused entirely on the cloud: more secure, ..more cost effective, greener – but since the cloud is represented in many different forms from an IT standpoint, its applications will be determined by the specific needs of the enterprises, SMB’s government organizations, and other business whose data is at risk.

Private sector organizations as well as government agencies are already depending on various forms of cloud BDR, and security options are expanding and improving every day, including state-of-the-art BDR-to-BDR replication to two sites, and cross replication of multiple sites, which provides (almost) instant restoration for one or more servers.

With the incredible magnitude of mobile devices, applications, and social networking, consumers’ behavior is transforming the norm in information availability. No longer is retrieving the information instantly the main issue: protecting your data is today’s technological challenge, and for many, data backup cannot be secure enough or fast enough.

As devices become more relevant, more intelligent and more embedded into our day-to-day lives, we begin to expect that same seamless connected experience across the services we receive from our cities, governments, schools, etc. The sheer volume of data stored digitally requires redundancy to make a business, organization or individual’s disaster recovery program worry-free. Virtual BDR-to-BDR and cross-replication offers data replication and archiving to another BDR device or data center of choice.

With cloud computing and the latest BDR and archiving technologies, businesses, governments, and industries can build more dynamic services to deliver goods and services to more quickly, and ensure greater access to a global market of opportunities and experiences without the fear of disaster-based data loss and the resulting shut downs that can bring productivity to a screeching halt.

Upfront, tangible cost savings are difficult to measure, but if you look at BDR-to-BDR and cross replication technologies as a means to achieving organizational agility through efficient virtualization processes, then the savings are more quantifiable. Virtual disaster recovery technologies will not answer all our IT issues, but it does open the door to look beyond a cache/archiving approach to IT and information sharing and determine what the next generation of data protection will look like, one that is reliable enough to evolve with the devices we use every day to operate businesses, organizations, and services.

For the public sector, virtual BDR technology could be the stimulus to implementing concrete measures for better utilization of energy and individual resources, remote collaboration, streamlined emergency response and disaster recovery, and much more. It can be the key to enabling government officials and agencies to better manage resources and at the same time, free up valuable technology and personnel to address mission-critical programs and services.

The conversations revolving around the evolution of cloud technology and all of its resultant innovations, including BDR-to-BDR replication and cross replication to multiple sites are critical to gaining a better understanding of how all this innovation will continue to open doors for newer, better data protection practices.

BluPointe’s new replication and cross-replication features combined translate to unprecedented data protection and restoration, all but eliminating downtime.

ATLANTA, Georgia, July 25, 2011 — BluPointe DRS has introduced two new features to its backup and disaster recovery ShadowProtect BDR product, offering BDR-to-BDR replication to two sites, as well as cross replication of multiple sites, providing instant (less than 60 seconds) restoration for one or more servers.

The benefits of a ShadowProtect BDR system, which provides local and off-site data backup allowing multiple servers to continuously back up to a device, include:

Replication of all data to two off-site facilities.

The ability to restore a server when disaster strikes in less than 60 seconds.

The ability to restore local or remote in under 60 seconds.

With these added features, ShadowProtect’s BDR replication, MSPs, resellers, data center and back-up professionals can count on restoration of protected servers in less than one minute.

These new features provide the redundancy necessary to make any organization’s disaster recovery program worry-free, as copies of data are replicated offsite to another ShadowProtect BDR device or data center of your choosing.

BluPointe’s new features synchronize backups locally or to the network by integrating backup data to a redundant location for archiving and disaster recovery. Synchronizations can run on demand or be scheduled.

BluPointe’s replication software automates delivery of backup image files to a local or remote ShadowProtect BDR. That means the entire image is replicated, giving the MSPs, resellers, and data center professionals multiple levels of redundancy at a location of their choice.

BluPointe’s ShadowProtect BDR flexible backup solutions already utilize silent data corruption prevention technology, and are capable of supporting multiple servers including Shadowprotect, MS SQL, Exchange and others, providing significant improvement over the restore times of legacy backup processes that may be consuming an inordinate amount of time. Businesses and organizations serious about avoiding unplanned downtime are turning to ShadowProtect BDR strategies that integrate BluPointe’s comprehensive support system.

BluPointe products meet SAS 70 Type II certification and HIPAA data management requirements. BluPointe product designs specifically define business processes that adhere to security best practices, maximize restrictions on access to confidential information, and maintain the industry’s strictest information security.

The BluPointe DRS partner support and operations teams are expertly trained to provide the highest level of service while satisfying rigid data privacy requirements and offering 99.9-percent uptime accessibility.

BluPointe’s ShadowProtect BDR Bare Metal Image support unit provides complete images of both a local and remote server, for unparalleled disaster recovery. Each ShadowProtect BDR supports multiple servers and workstations, and utilizes silent data corruption prevention technology that works proactively to verify the integrity of all data. It also supports local file and folder backups and complete image backups for laptops and other non-critical systems.

“Knowing that any system downtime can be disastrous to businesses and organizations, we are constantly working to enhance BluPointe’s ShadowProtect BDR features so users can operate worry-free,” said Ron Roberts, BluPointe CEO. “Our systems are designed to maximize data security and information availability.

“BluPointe’s enhanced ShadowProtect BDR systems will enable customers to handle even the most demanding data protection requirements cost-effectively, with flexible pricing options to suit every organization’s needs.”

When it comes to securing your company’s data, how do you know if the method you’ve chosen for the task is always going to be reliable? Discovering flaws in your data backup system after disaster strikes is akin to locking the barn door after the horse has bolted. Every day, technology to secure data improves, and today’s growing cloud technologies are providing more and more businesses with the sound data protection and recovery capabilities that render older, vulnerable backup and storage systems risky to any organization that can’t afford to find their disaster recovery plan wasn’t foolproof.

For MSPs and IT managers, keeping up with technology best suited to protect your company’s data is a never-ending task. For those who rely on tape drives, there are better solutions available, and here’s why: Tapes have an average failure rate of 99-percent. That means all tape drives will fail at least once in their lifetime, often without any type of warning or signs of failure.

Another problem with tape backup is the vulnerability to human error – tapes rely on someone in your company to remember to change them. In addition to the time-consuming inconvenience, the human error element is the number one cause of data erasing disasters.

To make matters worse, tapes are highly susceptible to theft, magnetism, hot and cold temperatures, and software errors. If you are going to use a tape backup system, it is critical to test your tape backups regularly to make sure they remain viable, and that you can actually restore data from them. There’s no room for error when the unexpected happens and your company’s tapes have not been diligently maintained. Even still, data backup might be the least of your worries.

Important Notes on Tape Backups:

Remember, tapes only back up your data, not the programs, software, or your server settings. If you are faced with a disastrous event that requires you to recover your network from a tape drive, your network will need to be completely rebuilt. Time consuming and expensive, considering that your system could be down for hours or even days.

Until recently, tape backup was the only affordable option for backing up large volumes of data. But as we mentioned previously, backup and recovery technology is constantly evolving, and you can now have a completely automated, worry-free onsite and offsite backup of your data. One of the solutions BluPointe recommends is a Backup and Data Recovery System, or BDR.

BluPointe’s BDR technology provides replication of server images to the cloud, and can be up an running in no time.

Why is a BDR system superior to tape?

The BDR device takes an image (snapshot) of your server at pre-set intervals that you can define. If you set the snapshot to be taken multiple times per day, that means you wouldn’t lose an entire day’s worth of work if your server crashed or experienced a total melt down.

You eliminate the need to change out tapes every day, or find an offsite storage location to keep them.

In the event of a server crash, the BDR device will take over as an acting server (using virtual server technology) so you can keep on working until your failed server is restored. This means you’ll be up and running within 30 minutes instead of potentially being down for days.

Your data and server image get stored offsite at a secure data facility, and replicated to another data facility to make sure your backup has a backup! This provides far more layers of security and proves far more reliable than tapes.
